Situation:
An existing GRP DN 400 irrigation pipe was leaking due to soil settling. This water main is crossing one of the major roads towards the Palm Jumeirah road in Dubai with two 45 degree bends. Traditional open trench excavation was not feasible. Moreover, the water main is only accessible via small maintenance chambers – one located directly Heathrow airport in London is Europe’s largest airport. A sewer rising main owned and operated by a catering company was leaking and had to be renewed without opening up a busy service road. Due to the location of the pipe, also the access pits had to be kept as small as possible. The relatively short installation length allowed it to pull the liner by hand into the existing main, which limited the use of heavy machinery and kept digging at a minimum. After only two working days the rising main could go back live.
