Client:
ISKI, Istanbul, Turkey
Year of Construction:
2015
Situation:
The existing steel potable water main DN 400 was installed underneath a bridge that is crossing the E5 highway in Istanbul. The host pipe was highly corroded and is a vital section for the potable water supply. Traditional open trench methods were not an option since the highway would have needed to be closed during the renovation works. For the first time, the Primus Line system was deployed in Istanbul for the trenchless renovation of a potable water main. After cleaning the host pipe from incrustations and removing welding seams, the pre-folded DN 400 Primus Liner was inserted in less than 15 minutes. After the installation of the termination fittings, a leak test was performed. Due to the Primus Line system, the renovation works could be accelerated compared to traditional methods while being almost unnoticed by the residents of Istanbul at the same time.
